Description and Table of Contents
Description
This is a compact survey of the current state of knowledge of the archaeology of the period 1500-1800 and a guide to the literature on the central topics, comprising the rural landscape, urban archaeology, fortifications and industry. The archaeology of the period 1500-1800 has only recently received specialist attention, but there are many archaelolgists who deal with post-medieval material during multi-period excavations or field surveys, as well as economic historians working mainly with documents who wish to complement these with the field evidence.
