内容説明

Chromosomal aberrations represent an important type of possible mutation. Basic aspects of chromosomal aberrations such as their origin and the importance of genetic repair are addressed in this text. Their practical applications, such as the use of chromosomes in genetic toxicology, are also discussed. The following topics are tackled: computerized analyses of chromosomes; DNA repair; induction of chromosomal aberrations with restriction endonucleases; chromosomes and cancer; adaptive responses to low doses of mutagens; biological dosimetry; chromosomal aberrations in meiosis; formation of micronuclei and their importance in genetic toxicology, and chromosomal aberrations as indicators of mutagenic activities.
