This is the first volume of "European Perspectives in Psychology" which encompasses a selection of papers presented at the First European Congress of Psychology, July 1989. Almost 2000 psychologists, the majority of whom were from West and East European countries, gathered in Amsterdam to participate in the first of what is hoped to be a series of European conferences in psychology. The papers in this volume address aspects of psychometrics, as well as theoretical, developmental, educational, cognitive, personality and gerontological psychology.
