Description

This book examines the housing supply and demand processes within a metropolitan setting. It provides a descriptive account of the nature and changes in the supply of housing by the public and private sectors and the impact of various policies on the supply of housing in the city. The analysis of demand for housing provides income and price elasticities of demand for owner and rented housing across various income groups. Residential behaviour is is examined within the perspective of needs and preferences, mobility and upward mobility in housing.
