Over the last decade many key policy changes have occurred in the personal social services, from the Seebohm Reforms to the publication of the Griffiths Report on community care. In "Social Work in an Enterprise Society", Robert Pinker describes and analyzes those changes and concludes with a review of current trends and their likely implications for future policy developments. He calls for a restructuring of the personal social services and social work practice, advocating the replacement of generalist models with specialist training, thus encouraging social workers to follow selectivist rather than universalist policies in a more diversified economy of welfare.
