Recombinant systems are being increasingly used to express proteins for both basic research and production purposes. This volume reviews the different systems, the use of prokaryots, lower eukaryots, DNA- and retroviral vectors, expression in animal cells and transgenic systems. Emphasis is given to the expression of genes at the protein level.
