Description and Table of Contents

Description

This book is a companion volume to Bullen, Leake and Jacob's "Precedents of Pleadings" and will be useful reading for a full understanding of the system of pleadings in England and Wales. The book aims to provide a comprehensive commentary to the classic compendium of precedents, covering every aspect of pleadings in detail. It includes such topics as the nature and functioning of pleadings, the formal requirements and principal rules of pleadings, chapters on statements of claim, defences and subsequent pleadings, and the amendment and striking out of pleadings. There are also sections on practice and procedure in the USA, Scotland and proceedings in the European Court of Justice. In addition, the subject of multiple claims and and group actions is dealt with, reflecting an increase in litigation brought by consumers against manufacturing companies.
