Unlike other urologic cancers, the only treatment method feasible in cases of renal cell carcinoma is nephrectomy, with therapeutic discussion limited solely to technical considerations of what surgical procedures are necessary and justifiable. However, this discouraging situation is currently being remedied. "Basic Research and Treatment of Renal Cell Carcinoma Metastasis" presents recent research and clinical work which offers the renal cancer field new hope for increased treatment options. Dealing with both theory and practice, the book covers important developments in such areas as: cytofluorometry and adenocarcinoma cells; the biological factors required for metastasis, and the theoretical aspects of its genesis and of renal cancer cells in the bloodstream; the use of interferon and interleukin; and the clinical elements of treating bone, lung and node metastasis through the different methods of chemotherapy, surgery, radiation and immunotherapy.
