Description and Table of Contents
Description
This monograph presents the latest developments in the understanding of the functions of taurine, not only as an essential nutrient, but also its possible role as a neurotransmitter or osmoregulator. Each section of the book is introduced by a short review article providing a unifying overview of recent work in specific areas. Among the major topical areas treated are cellular and subcellular distribution of taurine and taurine synthesizing enzymes in the nervous system, neurotransmitter, neuromodulatory and trophic actions of taurine, and taurine uptake and release.
