Description

According to Bauman, modernity promised to imbue human experience with a clarity and transparency through the rigorous application of reason. This did not happen. The undermining of traditional faiths was not succeeded by a creed of rationality which gained general acceptance in creating a new set of values. This book attempts to explain the reasons for this failure.
