Description and Table of Contents

Description

Situated as they are in the most densely armed region in the world, and having experienced two devasting wars this century, the European States are the first to acknowledge the fundamdental importance of reducing military tensions among themselves. However, divergences remain as to the concrete ways and means for the attainment of their security objectives on the basis of mutually acceptable reductions of their respective forces. Based on the Conference on Problems and Perspective of Conventional Disarmament in Europe, held in Geneva, Switzerland, shortly before the opening of the CFE talks in Vienna, this book discusses the impact that conventional disarmament in Europe will have on the rest of the world.
