The book is intended as a practical guide to all workers undertaking animal surgery. While primarily directed at the research worker it is also of value to those in veterinary practice and those commencing training in human surgery. Initials chapters cover the use of animals in research, together with the legal requirements in the UK, Europe and North America. The operative surgery section covers the preoperative preparation, the anaesthetic, surgical techniques and the postoperative care. The section on physiological measurement provides information on the choice and use of monitoring equipment.
