Professor A.I. Mikhailov was one of the world's leading scientists in informatics. He contributed enormously to the development of informatics as a scientific discipline, to the establishment of the statewide STI System of the USSR, and to the promotion of international cooperation in informatics and library science. This volume is dedicated to his memory.
