Description

This book focuses on the developments of giardiasis during the last decade, taking into account factors which have contributed to this, including the introduction of anti-Giardia agents and the development of culture methods for Giardia. Now recognized as one of the 10 major parasites of humans, Giardia is found world-wide and although transmitted fecal-orally, the precise means of transmission varies. The diverse views held in different parts of the world regarding the treatment of Giardia-infected individuals are reconciled in this book to provide an up-to-date, comprehensive and single-source reference, compiled by experts foremost in their field. The ultimate aim of the book is to considerably help promote research in this area, and thereby decrease the extensive impact of giardiasis. The scope of potential readers is broad: including the researcher, teacher, clinician and public health administrator alike.
