Description
The authors aim to present a solid case study of US policy toward Latin America, uncovering some traditional dilemmas and new problems. They also provide a diagnosis of the present state of US-Chilean relations that could serve as a basis for alternative policies in the future. Munoz and Portales trace the evolution of bilateral relations between the United States and Chile from the early part of the 19th century through the late 1970s. Their focus is on the post World War II period and, particularly, on the ties between Washington and Santiago during the Pinochet regime.
