Description

The results of meticulous study of 32 composite bows and some fragments found in the tomb of Tutankhmaun are presented in this book. In the Catalogue each bow is described in detail; in the Morphological Commentary the special features of the composite bow (length, profile, materials, decoration, etc.) are discussed in more general terms; and the Historical Commentary concerns the place of manufacture of these weapons and their performance. The plates show the original Burton photographs of the Tutankhamun bows, their nocks and cross-sections and transcriptions of their texts.
