Description
This book is devoted to anorexia nervosa, a condition that has become increasingly important since the 1980s. There are studies from several European countries and from the United States describing a remarkable increase in this condition, as well as in bulimia nervosa. But despite intensive research all over the world, the etiology is still poorly understood. Genetic factors, individual predisposition, family structure, endocrinological and other somatic factors, and sociocultural influences have been considered as important aspects influencing the manifestation of this disorder. All of these issues, as well as epidemiological and follow-up studies, are included in this volume.
