Description and Table of Contents

Description

This book sets out the basic legal rules of local government in the wake of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989. The book is not concerned, except incidentally, with individual local government services or methods of service delivery, but with the overall framework within which local government works. It is aimed at local government officers, academics and students on public administration courses. It aims to provide a "layman's" legal guide to practitioners whose training is not in the legal profession. Examples include contract maangement, the community charge etc.
