The two books offer a systematic treatment of multiphase media which are, increasingly, the rule rather than the exception in modern industrial practice. The books offer a systematic treatment of energy, mass and momentum exchange in multiphase systems along with other applications which include shock hardening of metals, boiling heat transfer, critical flow of two-phase mixtures, combustion of fuel droplets, tertiary oil recovery and detonation of powders. The approach covers all transport processes of importance in multiphase mixtures and also covers the specific behaviour of these processes when subjected to the passage of transient waves. The first volume is devoted to equations of mechanics in continuous media, processes near particles, the dynamics of shock effects in condensed media, two-velocity flow and the dynamics of materials in suspension. The second volume is devoted to the wave dynamics of bubbly liquids, the characteristics of gas-liquid and vapour-liquid flows in channels and the flow characteristics of heterogeneous media.
