Description and Table of Contents
Description
The book aims to improve our understanding of the factors determining the economic performance of the Pacific area developing countries. It deals with both the newly industrializing countries, comprising Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore and Taiwan, and the newly exporting countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand, of the area. Following an analysis of economic developments in the Pacific area developing countries in a comparative framework, the book contains country chapters that examine governmental policies, economic growth, international trade and prospects for the future in the individual countries. The conclusions re-state the main findings of the volume and summarize the policies that need to be followed by the individual countries to maintain high economic growth rates.
