Description
This volume is derived from a summer lecture series for neurosurgeons given at Woods Hole, Massachussetts, USA. The goals of both the course and this volume are to make material on basic neuroscience accessible to clinicians interested in the scientific underpinnings of treatment for brain disease and also to acquaint researchers with some of the problems of addressing complex clinical disorders such as epilepsy.
Table of Contents
- Clinical Overview of Epilepsy
- Mechanisms of Neurotransmitter Receptor Actions
- Neuronal Excitability: Focus on Second Messenger Systems
- Animal Models of the Epilepsies
- GABAergic Function in Relation to Seizure Phenomena
- Serotonin and Epilepsy
