Description

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), particularly among the developed countries, has gained strong momentum in the 1980s in the world economy. In this context, Japan has emerged as a sizeable FDI investor, at least on a flow bases. This volume presents the results of a joint project on foreign direct investment between the RHA and Sumitomo Life Research Institute in Japan, in the summer of 1989. The main purpose of the study is to give a comprehensive understanding of FDI between Japan and the EC in order to avoid unnecessary FDI frictions and promote further mutual understanding between the EC and Japan.
