Description
"The Encyclopaedia of Fossils" is a detailed reference on the history and significance, excavation and classification of fossil discovery throughout the world. The encyclopaedia begins with an introduction to the formation of fossils, their significance in the palaeological record, their discovery and identification. The text has been divided into the following three sections corresponding to fossil types: plants (bacteria and algae); invertebrates (protozoa and mollusks) and vertebrates (amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals). Each section provides a brief overview of the subject and shows many examples of fossils, arranged systematically and grouped for easy comparison.
