内容説明

The book is primarily concerned with library services to hospital patients and work with disabled people in the community; it also includes a section on multidisciplinary libraries as part of co-sited services. Advances in medicine have reduced the average length of stay of many hospital patients; this, together with the move towards care in the community, has changed the emphasis in this edition. Existing chapters have been radically revised, to take account not only of changes in the National Health Service but also developments in other fields. It also includes basic information on the organization and financial arrangements of hospital library services and such subjects as stock selection, as well as covering the library needs of disabled and elderly people in the commmunity. Subjects new to this edition are staff training in disability awareness, the psychological approach to the reader and health information. There are extensive references.
