内容説明
The aim of this series is to present a survey of recent research in the fields of speech, hearing and language processing as carried out in various international laboratories. In the past these fields have been rather isolated from each other, but currently they appear to be drawing closer together. This series hopes to encourage this trend. This inaugural volume contains chapters on speech signal processing, automatic recognition, synthesis, perception and speech aids for the handicapped. Other volumes explore in greater depth the links between speech and hearing and language processing. The series is intended for research and graduate scientists with interests in speech communication including speech processing and recognition, acoustics, phonetics, and communication and cognitive sciences.
目次
- Speech processing techniques, K.K.Paliwal
- experiments in acoustics - phonetic decoding - tackling the variability of speech, G.Chollet et al
- neural networks and speech processing, G.Tattersall
- bridging the gap between signals and symbols in speech recognition, P.D.Green et al
- cognitive phonetics, M.A.A.Tatham
- environmental influences on speech perception and production, R.Deihl et al
- multilingual text-to-speech development and applications, R.Carlson et al
- speech aids for the handicapped, R.I.Damper.

内容説明
The aim of this series is to present a survey of recent research in the fields of speech, hearing and language processing as carried out in various international laboratories. In the past these fields have been rather isolated from each other, but currently they appear to be drawing closer together. It is hoped this series will encourage this trend. The inaugural volume featured chapters on speech signal processing, automatic recognition, synthesis, perception and speech aids for the handicapped. This second volume of the series discusses a wide variety of research into speech, hearing and language processing. This reflects the numerous techniques which have been developed to explore these interrelated subjects.
目次
- The phoneme and the acoustical speech signal, W.Jassem
- pragmatic phonetics, K.Morton
- the ethological approach to the study of first language acquisition by children, R.Narashimhan
- exploring the role of the dorsal cochlear nucleus in the perception of voice onset time, M.J.Pont and R.I.Damper
- whither speech systems? a discussion of some characteristics of spoken language which may effect the commercial viability of speech technology, A.F.Newell
- speech databases, R.Carre
- speech processing for cochlear implants, J.B.Millar et al
- human factors studies of the speech driven word processors - experiments using a simulated natural rate large vocabulary continuous speech recognition system, A.F.Newell et al.
