内容説明
This book argues that classroom teachers and students should be involved in the processes of innovation and change in our schools. It is the right of teachers and pupils as partners in the daily life of the classroom to understand what they are doing and why they are doing it, to recognize the areas where they can influence and improve the experience of learning and teaching and to appreciate, each in their own ways, that the goal always is to extend the possibilities of control over one's own working environment and over one's life chances through deeper professional and personal understanding. Throughout, the book emphasizes the significance of co-operative work, of who "owns" the new ideas and the innovations, and of the meaning as well as the management of change.
目次
- Part 1 Understanding innovation: the meaning of change. Part 2 Challenging traditional values and assumptions: "a majority ruled by knowledge?"
- co-operative group work - democracy and divisiveness? Part 3 Pupil involvement and understanding: introducing innovation to pupils
- helping pupils manage the transition to enquiry-based learning
- the right to question and the right to understand the structures of learning. Part 4 Teacher involvement and understanding: ownership as the basis of individual commitment to innovation
- understanding the world of the classroom - the importance of a research perspective
- partnerships for building understanding
- ownership as the basis of school commitment to innovation. Part 5 Conclusion: building and sustaining alternative habits of thought and disposition.
