内容説明
This is a new edition of an undergraduate text on British politics. It covers a wide range of empirical material and a diversity of approaches to political analysis. There are three new chapters on voting behaviour, the New Right, and on government outside Whitehall and in Europe. The authors argue that both traditional institutional and behavioural approaches, and the Marxist alternative fail to provide an adequate analysis of the political landscape. They stress the way politics interacts with other aspects of life in a variable way. They show how political conditions have changed in response to social and economic developments - how, for instance, class has ceased to be a determining factor in voting behaviour.

内容説明
This is the second edition of the outstanding textbook on British politics. Like the first edition it continues to cover both a wide range of empirical material and a diversity of approaches to political analysis, but it has also been extensively revized to explore the developments since the first edition was published. There are now three entirely new chapters on voting behaviour, Liberalism, Conservatism and the 'New Right', and government and politics beyond Westminster and Whitehall.Rather than adopting one standpoint, the authors concentrate on comparing and assessing differing theories, thereby presenting a dynamic view of British politics.
