内容説明
This is an investigation of the narrative in relation to the changing contextual situations, both in "Ulysses" and in other Joyce texts. Several individual tracks move through the Ulyssean terrain crisscrossing each other and opening the possibilities of analyzing the narrative methods in operation and co-operation with each other. Various heightened moments and complex knots that intensify the narrative experience are returned to in order to re-examine their function and impact from different perspectives. The non-linear aspect of "Ulysses" invites such cicularity of critical methods as anti-linear contextualizations contend with the persistence of the chronology of the novel, a field of play in which such counters as content, conflict, confluence, contradiction and consistency (as well as inconsistency) are constantly operative.
