内容説明
The oral history project has interviewed a wide variety of individuals and this series of volumes presents these primary source materials. The series analyzes the decision by the American government to intern Japanese Americans in concentration camps during World War II. This volume comprises interviews with persons of Japanese ancestry, both resident aliens and United States citizens interned in centres operated by the army, the Department of Justice, the Immigration and Naturalization Service, the Wartime Civil Control Administration, and the War Relocation Authority. Included are the two contrasting wartime experiences of two men - a pre-war President of the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce and a young Buddhist priest from Los Angeles. The study also describes the accommodationist roles played by two male internees at the Manzanar War Relocation Centre in California and the convergent postwar involvement in the Los Angeles-based Manzanar Committee of two women.
