Description

This text emphasizes molecular orbitals and symmetry in nearly every aspect of bonding and reactivity. An early introduction is given to molecular symmetry and group theory, and a pictorial approach to molecular orbitals is provided. The authors not only stress the molecular orbital approaches to bonding but describe the alternatives, and emphasize molecular symmetry and group theory which is applied to bonding in main group, coordination and organometallic chemistry. The book contains a chapter on the parallels between main group and organometallic chemistry that includes a discussion of isolobal groups There is a selection of questions at the end of each chapter.
