Description and Table of Contents

Description

The second edition of "Politics and Society in Western Europe" has been totally rewritten for the 90's to provide a dynamic, student-friendly textbook with the emphasis on accessibility and the use of non-technical language and data. The coverage has been broadened and updated with greater emphasis on intergovernmental co-ordination through institutions such as the EEC. Political change is given pride of place in a treatment encompassing political sociology and an institutional framework of analysis. The theories of comparative politics and political sociology are tested against wide ranging empirical data on eleven European countries. The relationship of social divisions to politics is ludicly expounded to provide the clearest picture available of West European society and politics.
