This report traces the development of teletext within the regulated UK system and presents findings from a survey which analyzes characteristics of users, levels of awareness and knowledge, attitudes to the service and patterns of use. Although the growth of teletext has largely been a success story, some weaknesses in marketing and advertising the system are highlighted. The survey therefore suggests how the system can be enhanced through further marketing and technical development.
