This text provides a survey and examination of bone and tissue transplantation. Thirty-six contributors discuss such issues as osteogenesis, cartilage repair, the biologic and biomechanical characteristics of various type of grafts and the immune response to them, the preservation and banking of tissues, and the clinical use of grafts in such procedures as revision total hip arthroplasty and repair of massive bone loss. (ouch). The text is based on a 1989 AAOS/NIAMS workshop.
