内容説明
After 50 years of deep involvement with the British manufacturing industry, during a time in which that industry lost half its volume to foreign manufacturers has left the author convinced that much could have been saved by systematically "unpicking" and "reknitting" under the direction of innovative managers. Those pressures which caused the abandonment of many manufacturing enterprises which could have been "recreated" are described in the book. The result of allowing the "best to drive out the good" might have left us with the best industries, but undoubtedly many good industries which could have been saved were lost in the process. The book is a plea for more careful examination, by skilled, innovative and experienced managers, of any industry or manufacturing centre which is about to be abandoned, to try to find ways to save at least part of the enterprise.
