内容説明
Aimed at reliability engineers undertaking courses in statistics, this is a text on reliability theory and practice. The author emphasizes the statistical methods needed in connection with modelling, estimation and inference in reliability studies and this, coupled with the inclusion of much original material of practical interest, has created a text that should appeal to engineers and statisticians, and provide a valuable teaching aid in statistical methodology. The author deploys his expertise in optimization to good effect; among the number of original elements included is a clear and impartial comparison of Bayesian with other statistical procedures. Exercises with solutions are provided at the end of every chapter. A reasonable background in mathematical methods, together with some knowledge and experience of elementary statiscts, is a prerequisite to a full understanding of this new text.
