Description
The author examines the man-resource relationship in Nigeria from the ecological viewpoint. The book analyses the characteristics, spatial patterns and resource value of the various elements of the natural environment in Nigeria and assesses the traditional management systems adopted in the exploitation of the resources. What emerges from this study is a picture of a country with immense natural wealth already considerably dissipated by ignorance and mismanagement especially under an ecomonic system that pursues short-term gains at the expense of the need to support conservation measures which, though unpalatable in the short-run, have long-term benefits.
