Description and Table of Contents
Description
This collection of essays, the fourth volume in the "Perspectives in Vernacular Architecture" series, represents some of the best and most recent scholarly work in the field. Continuing in the tradition of the first three volumes, it explores the images and meanings of American architecture at its most human level, the level of everyday life. Drawing on interdisciplinary sources, the authors offer insights into the social and cultural contexts of the buildings, as well as the lives of the people who built and use them.
