Macromolecular complexes and their manipulation are useful for many applications in the fields of advanced materials research and application. These include new methods of catalysis, separation science, sensors, electronic conductivity, energy conversion, information storage, and the construction of new molecular configurations. Scientific interest in this material ranges over polymer/macromolecular chemistry, physics and advanced materials including engineering. Dr Tsuchida is a prominent figure in the Japanese polymer community and this group is in turn a most dynamic force in the area of polymer research and development. Dr Tsuchida contributes to and edits this book which reports on a research project initiated by the Japanese Government in 1987.
