Description and Table of Contents
Description
It has become increasingly evident that calcium plays an essential role in various aspects of physiological function and disease. This two-volume work, recording an international symposium, summarizes the current state of research on calcium-regulating hormones, body functions and the kidney, and clarifies problematic areas. The papers in this second volume concentrate on two main themes. A broad spectrum of basic problems related to calcium transport and bone metabolism are addressed in the first section. After elucidating the actions of calcium-regulating hormones, the second section presents a detailed discussion of new vitamin D and bisphosphonate analogues and their therapeutic potential.
