Description and Table of Contents

Description

"Emma", originally published in 1816, was the last novel which Jane Austen lived to see through the press, and combines all the qualities for which she is most admired - irony, wit, realism, vivid characterization, moral seriousness and great control of tone and narrative method. This edition of the text is edited by James Kinsley from R.W.Chapman's Oxford edition, and has a new bibliography by Margaret Anne Doody. The introduction is written by David Lodge, author of "Changing Places", "Small World" and "Nice Work".
