This book describes the background of various theoretical and practical aspects of medicine in Shakespeare's time in order to shed light on the meaning of many passages in his plays. Episodes and speeches from several plays receive detailed attention, and the book concludes with reinterpretations of large parts of All's Well That Ends Well and King Lear.
