In the last decade, economies in the Far East have experienced rapid growth and some Latin American economies are making dramatic recoveries from debt overhang. These emerging economies have succeeded despite the world's debt crisit, but how? This paper, based on a conference of world figures at Wilton Park, examines current policies to promote growth in developing countries and looks at four developing economies - Brazil, Mexico, Malaysia and Korea - and the lessons that can be learned from them.
