It is edited by five leading European experts in the liver and biliary tract and their diseases. This text provides clinicians with clear answers to clinical problems. The two-volume set, containing outstanding contributions from over 200 clinicians, includes unique sections on: BL Symptoms and signs in liver disease BL Industrial diseases affecting the liver BL The effects of diseases of other systems on the liver BL The effects of liver diseases on other systems Other chapters provide thorough coverage of such topics as viral hepatitis, including hepatitis C and E, and the effects of bacterial, fungal, and parasitic diseases in the liver. Attention is also focused on liver disease in defined patient groups: the elderly; children; pregnant women; and in drug addicts and homosexuals. Another section deals with the general management of liver disease, nutrition, and prescribing for other conditions when liver disease is present. There are also contributions on hepatocellular carcinoma and on transplantation.
