内容説明
This book is a collection of research reports on family process variables, parental expectancies, values, responses and tutorial efforts that are implicated in educational outcomes for younger and older children. Parental interaction patterns, educational practices and attitudes are revealed as precursors or concomitants of children's achievements in cognitive and school areas. Many of the reports describe longitudinal projects. Thus, this collection has the unique feature that parental precursors as well as contemporary supports for child achievement can be understood, based on the studies presented. Another plus for this collection is that the research represents work in several different English-speaking nations; the generalizability of ideas and trends reported is therefore greater.
