The papers in this volume examine many of the key issues, trends and changes which have influenced the field of management training and development since 1986. All the papers have been written by experienced consultants from the Harbridge Consulting Group and were originally published in the "Management Training Update" bulletin. The papers offer first-hand experiences and accounts of the Harbridge House consultants' involvement in many different management development and training programmes, research projects, strategies and initiatives in Britain, the USA and other countries worldwide. The book is divided into five sections, each prefaced by a scene-setting introduction, and includes coverage of concepts and issues in management development, the design and development of training initiatives, aspects of human resource management and innovations. Other contributors to this book present an overview of management development, discuss relevant management training theories, offer research findings on broad trends within industries and provide case studies which demonstrate specific applications of development theory.
