Description
These proceedings contain an overview of research and technology at the forefront of this fast-growing field. The "support functionality" of an information system expresses what it is capable of achieving and which purposes it is intended to serve. The many contributions in this volume are based on the conclusion that the fields of decision support systems (DSS) and office information systems (OIS) are emerging as a single integrated capability. This capability may use a number of different names but might well be viewed form one general and all-embracing point of view: that of support functionality.
