In this volume, more than 40 leading investigators present findings on the neurochemical actions, pharmacology, and physiological and behavioural effects of nicotine. The contributors focus on four major areas of current research: the structure and biochemical functions on nicotinic receptors; the distribution, metabolism, and actions of nicotine and its metabolites; the neurochemical actions of nicotine and the modulation of these actions by stress hormones; and the involvement of nicotinic receptors in dementias of Alzheimer type.
