内容説明
Britain is, on the whole, a well-documented nation. We know or are able to find out a great deal about our characteristics as a society - who we are and what we do. But we know much less about our social attitudes and values - what we think about our world and ourselves. "British Social Attitudes" compiles, describes and comments upon a wide range of current social attitudes. The information is obtained form around 3000 interviews carried out by SCPR among a nationwide sample in an annual series of surveys. The annual series of surveys seeks to chart changes in British social values during the 1980s and 1990s in relation to other changes in society, and is core-funded by the Sainsbury Family Charitable Trusts. A report is published each year, providing important information about the nature of British society and how it is changing. The 8th Report summarizes and interprets data from the most recent survey in the series as well as making comparisons with findings form the previous surveys, and draws preliminary conclusions.
The series is designed with the aim of encouraging other researchers to use the dataset - which is publicly available through the ESRC Data Archive - to explore the results further within their spheres of interest.
