Description

Throughout his long professional career, George Watson Cole was recognized as one of the leading bibliographers in the United States. This book summarizes Cole's varied accomplishments: compiler of the E. Dwight Church catalogs, first Director of the Henry E. Huntington Library, President of the Bibliographical Society of America, and prolific contributor to bibliographic and library journals. Cole was prominent in many bibliographic endeavors and counted many notable figures among his close associates. In addition to a narrative sketch of Cole's life, the book supplies the text of a number of Cole's most important bibliographic essays and a complete checklist of his publications.
