内容説明

The advances made in our understanding of the molecular structure and physiological function of the beta-and alpha-adrenoceptors have led to an additional appreciation of the roles that these receptors play in homeostasis and in pathological states. As a result, the beta-and alpha-adrenoceptor subtypes have become increasingly important drug targets due to their critical roles in the etiology, pathology and treatment of disease. This work reviews the current status of beta-adrenoceptors from the standpoint of molecular biology, biochemistry and pharmacology. The contents span the entire spectrum of research from the intracellular level of the nucleus, through the biochemical processes activated or inhibited by these receptors, to the functional effects they mediate in intact organs, animals and ultimately in humans, both in normal and disease states.

目次

  • Subclassification of beta-adrenoceptors
  • molecular biology of beta-adrenoceptors
  • beta-adrenoceptor signal transduction
  • structure-activity relationships for activation and blockade of beta-adrenoceptors
  • functions mediated by beta-adrenoceptor activation
  • therapeutic applications of agents
  • interacting with the beta-adrenoceptor.
